One of Bangkok’s premier plant and garden markets flanks both sides of Khlong Phadung Krung Kasem, west of Samsen Road. It stocks a huge range of goods, including ornamental garden pots, orchids, trees, and pond bases. Although Thewet Market is not as vast as Chatuchak Market, its prices are generally lower. It is a pleasant place to browse, even if you buy nothing.
Around the corner is the National Library, which contains a large collection of books in Thai and English. A number of Thai paintings hang in the lobby. The exterior incorporates several traditional Thai architectural touches, as do many government offices in the area.
