Forming a triangle with Bo Sang and San Kamphaeng, the mountain of Doi Saket is an ideal sight to combine with these two towns on a day trip from Chiang Mai.
The main reason for visiting Doi Saket is its hilltop temple, Wat Doi Saket, which offers stunning views of the Chiang Mai valley. The wat is reached by a steep staircase of 300 steps, flanked on either side by a naga. The temple complex includes a modern wihan, painted in red and gold, and a white chedi. There is a huge, seated Buddha on the hill top and seven smaller Buddhas, one for each day of the week
